More Hollywood than Hollyoaks: Soap girls put on their best frocks for football bash

Their on-screen alter-egos are beset by drama and disaster - so it's little wonder these soap stars fancied a glitzy night on the tiles.

The bevy of thesoapgirls rocked up to Manchester's plush Panacea nightclub yesterday for Manchester City's end-of-season bash - looking more Hollywood than Hollyoaks.

Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays brassy Mercedes McQueen, showed off her curves and washboard abs in a figure-hugging two-piece accessorised with gold shoes and a matching black and gold handbag.

Meanwhile, Emma Rigby - who won Best Actress at last year's British Soap Awards for her role of bulimic Hannah Ashworth - looked extremely slender in a thigh-skimming white halter-neck frock.

Nathalie Emmanuel - who stars as recovering drug addict Sasha Valentine - tucked a  flower in her hair and matched it with a 1950s-inspired peach vest, leggings and a pink belt.

Gemma Merna, who plays dizzy Carmel Valentine in the Channel 4 soap, worked a Zara grey satin sheath and purple heels.

And Claire Cooper - who plays her bolshy onscreen sister Jacqui - opted for a  boho chic black vest, loose-fitting black shorts and gold sandals.

She was joined by her character's late sister Tina, played by Leah Hackett, who was killed off the soap last October.

Leah showed off her figure in a strapless floral jumpsuit and electric blue shoe boots.

Newer cast member Jorgie Porter went for a more sedate look than anything her teen bombshell character Theresa McQueen would wear, with a tailored grey shift, red heels and a retro ponytail.
Another recent addition, Saira Choudhry, looked glam in a hot pink bandau dress.

With killer shows and a gold clutch, she was a world away from her character Anita - a self-harming schoolgirl with low self-esteem.
